Forward Regulatory Plan: 2021 to 2023 – Amendments to the Accessible Transportation for Persons with Disabilities Regulations (Sections 7-8)

The objective of the proposed amendments is to update and clarify the communication requirements regarding telephone systems (sections 7) and Websites (section 8) of the Accessible Transportation for Persons with Disabilities Regulations (ATPDR).

Regulatory cooperation efforts (domestic and international)

The proposed amendments do not require regulatory cooperation.

Potential impacts on Canadians, including businesses

These proposed amendments will have positive impacts on Canadians as they will clarify and update the requirements around telephone systems and websites in the ATPDR.

The impact on businesses has not yet been assessed, but it is expected that the impacts on business are minimal. The “One-for-One” rule may apply.


Consultations are expected to take place in summer/fall 2021.

The proposed amendments to sections 7 and 8 of the ATPDR are expected to be pre-published in Part I of the Canada Gazette in Fall 2021 or Winter 2022.
