Forward Regulatory Plan: 2021 to 2023 – Minor Amendments to Air Enforcement-Related Regulations

Enabling act(s)

Canada Transportation Act

The objective of the proposed initiative is to improve clarity and consistency, correct minor errors, repeal obsolete provisions, and make targeted adjustments to air enforcement-related regulations that were part of the CTA’s Regulatory Modernization Initiative (RMI).

Regulatory cooperation efforts (domestic and international)

The proposed amendments do not require regulatory cooperation.

Potential impacts on Canadians, including businesses

The proposed amendments are expected to have a generally positive impact on airlines by updating, clarifying and correcting certain of their regulatory obligations. The proposal would likely result in low administrative costs or burden to businesses.

Public and stakeholder consultations were already held in the development of the RMI regulations, and further consultations will be conducted where necessary.

Publication in Part I of the Canada Gazette is expected in spring 2022.
