IN THE MATTER OF sections 227 and 296 of the Railway Act, R.S.C. 1970, c. R-2;
IN THE MATTER OF section 73.31 of the Regulations for the Transportation of Dangerous Commodities by Rail; and
IN THE MATTER OF the transportation of a product shipped by James River/Dixie Northern Inc., Naheola, Alabama.

WHEREAS after investigations by Agency staff of recent incidents involving the release of vapours from tank cars carrying Alkaline Lignon Liquor, UN number 1760, Class 8 - Corrosive, shipped by James River/Dixie Northern Inc., Naheola, Alabama, USA, which has resulted in some railway employees seeking medical assistance, it was found that these cars were not in compliance with the above-noted Regulations, and attempts to date to rectify this situation have been unsuccessful.
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT:
All railways under the jurisdiction of the National Transportation Agency of Canada shall not accept for transportation, cars carrying the above named product, shipped by James River/Dixie Northern Inc., Naheola, Alabama, USA until further notice.
