APPLICATION

Irving Oil Commercial GP applied through its representative for a licence to use the “BRITISH CYGNET”, an Isle of Man tanker, to transport crude oil, in two voyages of approximately 675,000 barrels each, from Whiffen Head, Newfoundland and Labrador to Canaport, in Saint John, New Brunswick, commencing on or about February 2 and ending on or about March 3, 2016.

Is there a suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity?

FACTS AND DETERMINATION

Canadian Transportation Agency (Agency) staff gave notice of the application to the Canadian marine industry and no Canadian ships were offered. Therefore, the Agency determines that there is no suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity.

The Agency is providing this determination to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to consider whether to issue the licence. This Decision is not an authority to operate.
