APPLICATION

Stena Drilling Limited applied, through its representative, for a licence to use the “STENA ICEMAX”, a mobile offshore drilling unit registered in the United Kingdom, to perform drilling activities for petroleum exploration and development, off the east coast of Canada, commencing on/or about September 1, 2015 and ending on/or about August 31, 2016.

Is there a suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity?

FACTS AND DETERMINATION

A search of the Canadian marine industry was conducted and it was determined that there is no suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity described in the application.

The Agency is providing this determination to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to consider whether to issue the licence. This Decision is not an authority to operate.
