Royal Jordanian (hereinafter Royal Jordanian) has applied to the Canadian Transportation Agency (hereinafter the Agency) for the variance set out in the title. The application was received on January 9, 2007.

By Decision No. 708-A-2006 dated December 22, 2006, the Agency authorized Royal Jordanian to provide a scheduled international service between Amman and Montréal without a stop at either New York or Toronto and without the requirement to have a commercial agreement in place with a designated airline of Canada during single-track operations, from June 1, 2007 to May 31, 2008.

In its application, Royal Jordanian requests a variance of Decision No. 708-A-2006 in order to advance the start-up date of its scheduled service between Amman and Montréal from June 1 to May 25, 2007. According to the applicant, there is an increased interest from the general public and business in the service which resulted in the carrier re-evaluating its 2007 summer schedule.

Notice of the subject application was given to those interested parties who had been consulted on the original application by Royal Jordanian namely, Air Canada, Aéroports de Montréal (hereinafter ADM) and the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (hereinafter the GTAA). All interested parties have indicated that they do not oppose the change in date proposed by Royal Jordanian.

The Agency has reviewed and considered the application and the submissions from the GTAA, ADM and Air Canada and finds, pursuant to section 32 of the Canada Transportation Act (hereinafter the CTA), that there has been a change in the facts or circumstances pertaining to Decision No. 708-A-2006 since it issued and that this Decision should be varied.

Accordingly, the Agency, pursuant to section 32 of the CTA, hereby varies Decision No. 708-A-2006 dated December 22, 2006 by changing the commencement date from June 1 to May 25, 2007.

This Decision shall form part of Licence No. 975144 and shall remain affixed thereto as long as the said Decision is in force.
