APPLICATION by Cold Ocean Salmon Inc., pursuant to the Coasting Trade Act, S.C., 1992, c. 31, for a licence to use the "AKVAMASTER 400 CLASSIC AUTOMATED FISH FEEDING BARGE" No. 40167 to be moored in Fortune Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador.

APPLICATION

Cold Ocean Salmon Inc. has, through its Canadian representative, applied for a licence to use the "AKVAMASTER 400 CLASSIC AUTOMATED FISH FEEDING BARGE" No. 40167, to load and store up to 400 tons of salmon feed. The barge will be moored at Bottle Hill and Back Cover, in Fortune Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador, commencing on July 3, 2008 and ending on July 2, 2009.

Is there a suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity?

FACTS AND DETERMINATION

Canadian Transportation Agency (Agency) staff gave notice of the application to the Canadian marine industry and no Canadian ships were offered. Therefore, the Agency determines that there is no suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity.

The Agency is providing this determination to the Minister of Public Safety to consider whether to issue the licence. This Decision is not an authority to operate.
