APPLICATION

Tactical Marine Solutions Ltd. applied, through its representative, for a licence to use the “ERNEST SHACKLETON”, a research and support vessel from the Falkland Islands, to provide support services to the cruise ship “Crystal Serenity” during its voyage through the Northwest Passage and northern Canadian waters. The activity will commence on August 4 and end on September 17, 2016.

Is there a suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity?

FACTS AND DETERMINATION

Canadian Transportation Agency (Agency) staff gave notice of the application to the Canadian marine industry and no Canadian ships were offered. Therefore, the Agency determines that there is no suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity.

The Agency is providing this determination to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to consider whether to issue the licence. This Decision is not an authority to operate.
