15-04672

APPLICATION

Acciona Pacer Joint Venture applied, through its representative, for licences to use two American Flexifloat barges. The barges will be used as part of the replacement work of the Walterdale Bridge on the North Saskatchewan River in Edmonton, Alberta, commencing on October 20 and ending on November 30, 2015.

ISSUE

Is there a suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity?

FACTS AND DETERMINATION

Canadian Transportation Agency (Agency) staff gave notice of the application to the Canadian marine industry. Groupe Océan Inc. (Goupe Océan) filed an objection, and offered a Canadian ship to perform the activity. Groupe Océan has since withdrawn its objection. No other Canadian ships were offered. Therefore, the Agency determines that there is no suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity.

The Agency is providing this determination to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to consider whether to issue the licences. This Decision is not an authority to operate.
