APPLICATION by Suncor Energy Inc., pursuant to the Coasting Trade Act, S.C., 1992, c. 31, for a licence.
APPLICATION
Suncor Energy Inc. applied, through its representative, for a licence to use the “PECOS”, a Marshall Islands tanker, to transport approximately 975,000 barrels of crude oil, in one voyage, from Whiffen Head, Newfoundland and Labrador to Portland, Maine, United States of America via pipeline to Montréal, Quebec and/or Canaport, in Saint John, New Brunswick and/or Halifax, Nova Scotia and/or other locations in Atlantic Canada, commencing on or about December 15, 2014 and ending on or about January 13, 2015.

Is there a suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity?
FACTS AND DETERMINATION
Canadian Transportation Agency (Agency) staff gave notice of the application to the Canadian marine industry and no Canadian ships were offered. Therefore, the Agency determines that there is no suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity.
The Agency is providing this determination to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to consider whether to issue the licence. This Decision is not an authority to operate.
