APPLICATION
OSG Overseas Ship Management (Canada) Inc. applied, through its Canadian representative, for a licence to use the "GENMAR DEFIANCE", a Liberian tanker, to transport crude oil, for one voyage only, from Whiffen Head, Newfoundland and Labrador to Canaport, Saint John, New Brunswick and/or Point Tupper, Nova Scotia and/or Halifax, Nova Scotia and/or Portland, Maine, United States of America via pipeline to Montréal, Quebec, during the period commencing on or about September 28, 2008 and ending on or about October 4, 2008.

Is there a suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity?
FACTS AND DETERMINATION
Canadian Transportation Agency (Agency) staff gave notice of the application to the Canadian marine industry and no Canadian ships were offered. Therefore, the Agency determines that there is no suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity.
The Agency is providing this determination to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to consider whether to issue the licence. This Decision is not an authority to operate.
