APPLICATION by EPE SPA Air Algérie carrying on business as Air Algérie (Air Algérie) pursuant to section 77 of the Canada Transportation Act, S.C., 1996, c. 10, as amended (CTA).

Air Algérie has applied to the Canadian Transportation Agency (Agency) for authority to operate one additional weekly flight between Algiers, Algeria and Montréal, Quebec, Canada, in each direction, for the summer season beginning on June 17 to September 15, 2018.

Air Algérie is licensed to operate a scheduled international service in accordance with the Agreement between the Government of Canada and the Government of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria on Air Transport initialled ad referendum on July 5, 2006 (Agreement) and any applicable arrangements as may be agreed to between Canada and Algeria.

Under the terms of an arrangement between Canada and Algeria reached on October 3, 2013 (Arrangement), each country may allocate among its designated air carriers seven weekly flights to be operated using their own aircraft, in each direction.

Pursuant to the Arrangement, requests for temporary and short-term additional capacity may be approved by the aeronautical authorities of Canada and Algeria.

Air Canada, the Canadian air carrier designated to serve Algeria, was advised of the application and has no comments.

The Agency has considered the application and the material in support and finds it appropriate to grant this approval.

Accordingly, as the aeronautical authority for Canada, the Agency, pursuant to section 77 of the CTA, and as provided for in the Agreement and the Arrangement, approves the application by Air Algérie to provide an additional capacity by operating one additional weekly flight between Algiers and Montréal, in each direction, beginning on June 17 to September 15, 2018.

This approval does not constitute a change in the capacity entitlement set out in the Arrangement.
