British Airways penalized for violations of the APPR

The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) has issued administrative monetary penalties totaling $64,800 against British Airways for violations of the Air Passenger Protection Regulations (APPR).

Between May 2, 2024, and October 9, 2024, British Airways committed 36 violations of subsections 5(2), 5(3) and 5(5) of the APPR, which include failing to inform passengers of the treatment applicable to them, the minimum compensation to which they may be entitled, and the recourse against the carrier available to them, including their recourse to the CTA.

British Airways has until July 14, 2025, to request reviews before the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada.
