APPLICATION by DMM S.A., pursuant to the Coasting Trade Act, S.C., 1992, c. 31, for a licence.
APPLICATION
DMM S.A. applied, through its representative, for a licence to use the “SIMON STEVIN”, a Luxembourg registered fall pipe and rock dumping vessel, for the installation of a submarine cable system that will cross the Northumberland Strait and cover a distance of approximately 17 kilometers between Port Borden, Prince Edward Island and Cape Tormentine, New Brunswick. The activity will start on October 23 and will end on December 23, 2016.

FACTS AND DETERMINATION
Canadian Transportation Agency (Agency) staff gave notice of the application to the Canadian marine industry and no Canadian ships were offered. Therefore, the Agency determines that there is no suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity.
The Agency is providing this determination to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to consider whether to issue the licence. This Decision is not an authority to operate.
