APPLICATION

Electromagnetic Geoservices A.S. applied, through its Canadian representative, for a licence to use the "BOA THALASSA", a survey ship from the Cayman Islands, to conduct a controlled source electromagnetic survey off the East Coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, exclusively in the continental shelf zone, commencing on June 1, and ending on November 1, 2010.

Is there a suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity?

FACTS AND DETERMINATION

Canadian Transportation Agency (Agency) staff gave notice of the application to the Canadian marine industry and no Canadian ships were offered. Therefore, the Agency determines that there is no suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity.

The Agency is providing this determination to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to consider whether to issue the licence. This Decision is not an authority to operate.
