APPLICATION

Irving Oil Commercial GP applied, through its representative, for a licence to use the “PENN NO. 92”, an American barge, to work with the tug “COHO”, to transport approximately 82,000 barrels of asphalt, in one voyage, from Saint John, New Brunswick for discharge at Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia, Stephenville, Holyrood and and Botwood, Newfoundland and Labrador, and/or possibly at Montréal, Quebec and/or various ports in Atlantic Canada. The activity will commence on or about August 19 and will end on or about September 18, 2016.

Is there a suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity?

FACTS AND DETERMINATION

Canadian Transportation Agency (Agency) staff gave notice of the application to the Canadian marine industry and no Canadian ships were offered. Therefore, the Agency determines that there is no suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity.

The Agency is providing this determination to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to consider whether to issue the licence. This Decision is not an authority to operate.
