APPLICATION

Irving Oil Commercial GP applied, through its representative, for a licence to use the “NEW ENGLAND”, a tanker registered in the Marshall Islands, to transport approximately 265,000 to 530,000 barrels of clean petroleum products, in multiple voyages, by loading up to 265,000 barrels per voyage, from Saint John, New Brunswick for discharge at St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador and/or Halifax, Nova Scotia and/or Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and/or Québec, Quebec and/or Montréal, Quebec and/or Belledune, New Brunswick and/or Gaspé, Quebec and/or Matane, Quebec and/or Cartwright, Newfoundland and Labrador and/or Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador. The activity will commence on or about August 27 and will end on or about September 26, 2015.

Is there a suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity?

FACTS AND DETERMINATION

Canadian Transportation Agency (Agency) staff gave notice of the application to the Canadian marine industry and no Canadian ships were offered. Therefore, the Agency determines that there is no suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity.

The Agency is providing this determination to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to consider whether to issue the licence. This Decision is not an authority to operate.
