APPLICATION

OSG Overseas Ship Management (Canada) Inc. applied, through its representative, for a licence to use the "D.T. VINCENZO", an Italian tanker, to carry crude oil for one voyage from Whiffen Head, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada to Portland, Maine, United States of America via pipeline to Montréal, Quebec and/or Canaport, Saint John, New Brunswick and/or Halifax and/or Point Tupper, Nova Scotia, Canada, commencing on or about March 30 and ending on or about April 5, 2011.

ISSUE

Is there a suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity?

FACTS AND DETERMINATION

Canadian Transportation Agency (Agency) staff gave notice of the application to the Canadian marine industry and no Canadian ships were offered. Therefore, the Agency determines that there is no suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity.

The Agency is providing this determination to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to consider whether to issue the licence. This Decision is not an authority to operate.
