Bakers Narrows Lodge penalized for violations of the Canada Transportation Act

The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) has issued administrative monetary penalties totalling $62,500 against Bakers Narrows Lodge for violations of the Canada Transportation Act (the Act).

Between June 22, 2024, and March 31, 2025, Bakers Narrows Lodge committed five violations by operating an air service without holding a licence issued under Part II of the Act, thereby contravening section 57 of the CTA. It also committed two violations by selling on its website, causing to sell or publicly offering for sale in Canada an air service for which no licence is held under Part II of the Act, thereby contravening section 59 of the Act.

Between August 29, 2024, and August 22, 2025, Bakers Narrows Lodge committed three violations by knowingly obstructing or hindering or making a false or misleading statement orally, to a person designated as an enforcement officer pursuant to paragraph 178(1)(a) of the Act, who was engaged in carrying out  functions under the Act, thereby contravening subsection 173(2) of the Act.

Between August 29, 2024, and August 25, 2025, Bakers Narrows Lodge committed three violations by failing to provide assistance to enable the enforcement officer making the request to carry out the enforcement officer’s duties, and to furnish any information required for the purposes of the Act, thereby contravening subsection 178(5) of the Act.

Bakers Narrows Lodge has until December 10, 2025, to request reviews before the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada.
