The Canadian Transportation Agency issues important administrative monetary penalties to WestJet

The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) has issued administrative monetary penalties (AMPs) against WestJet, totaling $112,800.
Related to the flight disruptions during the summer of 2022, designated enforcement officers (DEOs) of the CTA found that WestJet failed to provide passengers, within 30 days, the compensation they were entitled to as prescribed by subsection 19(4) of the Air Passenger Protection Regulations (APPR).
Since the coming into force of the APPR in 2019, the CTA has issued 81 Cautionary Notices, and 33 Notices of Violation with Administrative Monetary Penalties (AMPs) ($383,580) relating to the APPR. Over the last year (since January 2022), and including these recent Notices of Violations, the CTA has issued 20 Notices of Violation with AMPs which total $297,630 to 13 different carriers relating to the APPR.
