Flair Airlines Ltd. penalized for violations of the APPR

The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) has issued administrative monetary penalties totalling $174,000 against Flair Airlines Ltd. for violations of the Air Passenger Protection Regulations (APPR).

On or about August 17, 2024, Flair Airlines Ltd., committed 48 violations of subsection 18 (1.1) of the APPR by failing to provide passengers with the option of receiving a confirmed reservation for the next available flight that was operated by any carrier travelling on any reasonable air route from the airport at which passengers were located, or another airport that was within a reasonable distance of that airport, to the destination that was indicated on passengers’ original ticket.

On or about September 18, 2024, Flair Airlines Ltd., committed 24 violations of subsection 18.2 (2) of the APPR by failing to refund the unused portion of a ticket to passengers within 30 days after the day on which the carrier became obligated to do so.

Flair Airlines Ltd., has until August 30, 2025, to request reviews before the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada.
