5. Main corporate reports
The CTA undergoes a variety of corporate reporting exercises annually. The three main corporate reports are outlined below, and all of the CTA’s corporate reports can be found here: Corporate reports.
Annual Report
The CTA is required to report to Parliament every year on its activities through its Annual Report, which is submitted through the Minister of Transport to the Governor in Council. The report is tabled in the House of Commons by the Minister of Transport. The Annual Report must include a yearly assessment of any difficulties observed in administering the Act and typically recommends legislative amendments to resolve those difficulties. It must be submitted to the Minister of Transport within three months of the end of the fiscal year.
Departmental Plan
The Departmental Plan is the CTA's spending plan. It describes the department’s priorities, planned results and associated resource requirements for the following three-year period.
It focuses on the benefits for Canadians, explains the critical aspects of planning and performance, associates performance with plans, priorities and expected results, explains changes, considerations of past performance, and lessons learned, and draws links between resources and results. It is tabled in Parliament by the Minister of Transport every February.
Departmental Results Report
The Departmental Results Report is the CTA’s account of its actual results. It informs parliamentarians and Canadians of the results achieved by the CTA and reports on actual results against the Departmental Plan. It is closely linked to the Departmental Results Framework, which contains the programs and indicators used to report on in the DRR. It is tabled by the Minister of Transport every November.
